For over 60 years Ferrari has been producing some of the world’s most sought after and renowned sports cars. I doubt there is any other manufacturer that can rival Ferrari’s global reputation for prestige, speed or attractiveness. With such rich heritage and unparalleled racing success, it has produced become some of the most desirable cars in the world. For these reasons it would be impossible to pick the best Ferrari ever, so here is my list of the five most iconic instead.

250 GTO

The 250 GTO has topped a countless number of these lists with many motoring enthusiasts believing it to be the greatest supercar ever built. Initially designed for GT racing, the 250 GTO’s V12 offered the best performance of its time. It is also one of the rarest and most collectable Ferraris of all time with only 39 built from 1962-64. It is so iconic that Chris Evans bought his 250 GTO for £12million, making it one of the most expensive cars in the world.

246 Dino

Named after Enzo Ferrari’s son, the beautiful 246 Dino was lauded for its innovative design and performance. One of the most stylish Ferraris ever built, the 246 Dino was not initially considered to be a true Ferrari. This is because it only had six cylinders instead of 12 like its predecessors. However, opinions have changed since its introduction in 1968 and the 246 Dino is now thought of as one the renowned cars in Ferrari’s history.

F40

For years the F40 was the most powerful and quickest car Ferrari had built. In fact it is still fast compared to modern day supercars with a top speed of just over 200mph and 0-60mph in less than four seconds. The F40 has many admirers with perhaps the most notable being Jeremy Clarkson. Produced from 1987-92, it was the last ever car to be commissioned by Enzo Ferrari before his death.

360 Challenge Stradale

With the release of the 360 in 1999, Ferrari proved they could put their racing philosophy into a practical road car. The Challenge Stradale was the last version of the 360, being lighter and having much better handling than the previous Modena version.

Enzo

It wouldn’t seem fair to not include the Enzo in this list seeing as it is a tribute to the company’s late founder. A favourite with celebrities, it was an incredibly exclusive car to own with only 399 built. With its release in 2002, the Enzo set the benchmark for all supercars following it and quickly established its position as one of Ferrari’s most iconic cars. Ten year on and it is more desirable than ever.

So there you have it, my five most iconic cars from Ferrari’s long and illustrious history. I’m sorry if I’ve missed out your favourite, there really were too many to pick from. And if the stunning new F12 Berlinetta is anything to go by then we have many more to look forward to
